This superb 1937 George VI proof Specimen Five Pound piece being graded by NGC as PF-67 Cameo, shares equal finest example top spot. Classified as 'Top Pop' Number in Higher Grades '0' and not bettered by any PCGS example. One similar example sold in the USA in January 2023 for $72,000.00.

The plain edge Proof gold  Five Pound pieces were produced to celebrate the Coronation of King George VI on the 12th of May 1937 as part of 4 coin gold Proof sets, with a mintage of 5,501 pieces, they were technically patterns as they did not have a milled edge like earlier gold Five Pounds of other reigns.
