A gold bar is a gold ingot which may be produced in many different types, weights and categories.
Types of Gold Bar
Gold bars are generally classified into two different types — cast and minted — according to their method of manufacture.
Cast bars are made by pouring molten gold into an ingot mould, allowing the gold to take its final form. Minted bars are normally produced from prepared gold blanks which are cut to the required dimensions before markings and designs are applied using presses.
ChipGold is a relatively modern form of gold bar, usually consisting of a small ingot weighing between 1 and 20 grams sealed inside a certified package approximately the size of a credit card.

One troy ounce is equal to approximately 31.1035 grams.
When gold is measured in ounces, the measurement normally refers to troy ounces, rather than the more familiar avoirdupois ounce used for many everyday goods. An avoirdupois ounce is lighter than a troy ounce and is equal to approximately 28.3495 grams.

Gold is also an exceptionally dense metal, with a density of approximately 19.3 grams per cubic centimetre.
